Be Resilient, Save Yourself

The Philippines' location can justify why our country goes through many natural hazards. We are located on the Pacific Ring of Fire and we are beside the Pacific ocean. Earthquakes and typhoons may happen often. We know that our country is easily flooded. Our country is "prone to disasters," but are we, Filipinos, resilient on these?

Most people, though given precautions on incoming natural hazards in our country, will not prepare for it which leads to disasters. During one, it's either they work on their needs or depend on the government. If the former is done, I can say that we are quite resilient. If the latter, I can't say that we are. Our resiliency depends on us. To hasten our resiliency, we should stop depending on others. We should depend on ourselves, help ourselves.

Our country may experience many disasters. We should all be well-oriented and prepared. Let's go through these alive and safe. Let's be resilient. Let's save ourselves.

Last July 23, 2018, the fourth monday of July, Mr. Rodrigo Roa Duterte had his third SONA. The different accomplishments and concerns about Filipinos were stated and discussed. I have read his piece and there are those lines that caught my attention. One is, "Your concern is human rights, mine is human lives," I remember this line and the reason why he stated this. "Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin!" is the theme of the nutrition moth 2018 according to the National Nutrition Council (NNC) of the Philippines. Nutrition Month is celebrated every year on the month of  July. There are activities that are held to improve people's knowledge about nutrition, especially for students. There are activities for students to communicate with one another and activities where they can impart their talents and skills in relation to the given theme. The theme of the Nutrition month 2018 is about family food gardening wherein having food gardens can help improve the family and the community's food security.
